简介：Fernando Di Leo's "Milano Calibro 9" is an out-and-out masterpiece of Italian Crime cinema and, in my opinion, one of the most astonishing crime stories ever told. The first film in Di Leo's excellent 'Milieu' trilogy, "Milano Calibro 9" was followed by "La Mala Ordina" (aka. "Manhunt", also 1972) and the brilliant "Il Boss" (1973). The three films are not connected story-wise, but all three are excellent, and highly realistic portrayals of organized crime. As far as I am concerned "Manhunt" is (allthough excellent) slightly inferior to this one and "Il Boss" which both stand out as absolute all-time highlights of crime cinema. "Milano Calibro 9" is the best of them all, a film that is astonishing in all aspects, be it the ingenious plot that, apart from a compelling story and clever twists, includes social criticism, the performances, the gritty atmosphere and suspense or the brilliant score. I can hardly find the right words to express my admiration for this masterpiece which easily ranks among the greatest Gangster flicks ever brought to screen. Gastone Moschin stars as Ugo Piazza, a tough and elliptical ex-convict who has just been released from prison. Immediately after his release, Ugo is approached by members of the Milan mob lead by the irascible gangster Rocco (Mario Adorf), as they suspect him to be responsible for the disappearance of a large sum of money belonging to their boss, an American (Lionel Stander) who controls the organized crime in Milan... "Milano Calibro 9" is a film that delivers an astonishingly realistic mood of the underworld like hardly another. The intriguing storyline goes in hand with interesting characters, raw atmosphere, suspense and breathtaking action, social criticism and brutal violence. The film is simply stunning from the beginning to the end, which is even intensified by the brilliant score, a collaboration of the famous composer Luis Enríquez Bacalov and the Italian Progressive Rock band Osanna. Ugo Piazza must be one of the most charismatic gangster characters ever in cinema, and Gastone Moschin was the prefect choice for the role. Moschin delivers a brilliant performance, and the rest of the cast is also great. Mario Adorf is irascible like a rabid dog as the ferocious gangster Rocco, a role that fits him like a glove. The great Lionel Stander fits perfectly in his role of the American Mafia Don. The two cop characters in the film are played by two of the greatest regulars of Italian genre-cinema, Luigi Pistilli and Frank Wolff (who committed suicide before the film was released). The ravishing Barbara Bouchet is astonishing and incredibly sexy in the role of Ugo Piazza's stripper girlfriend. Bouchet is both a stunning beauty and an excellent actress and this is doubtlessly one of her most memorable roles. This is also a political film and director Di Leo embedded a lot of social criticism about topics like corruption. This film simply has everything one can possibly desire in cinema. Films like "Milano Calibro 9" are the reason why I love cinema. This is an absolute masterpiece in all regards and, without exaggeration, one of the greatest Crime flicks ever made! The ingenious opening scene alone is more memorable than most films get in two hours.

简介：　　This early 70's giallo by Umberto Lenzi is certainly among the best in his filmography and also in the whole genre. Personally I think Lenzi's best films are the funny cartoon-turned-film Kriminal, the stylish giallo Seven Blood-Stained Orchids, the explosive Napoli violenta and this. In the eighties he did plenty of film trash in form of Eaten Alive, Hitcher in the Dark or Black Demons, all of which are ripping something off and/or very dull and slow moving. Knife of Ice came when the giallo boom was at its hottest and the result is convincing.　　Technically the film is superb, containing great cinematography in the beginning when we learn about the main character's trauma towards trains. From this point on, Lenzi shows us his ability to benefit the widescreen and, for example, the bicycle ride near the forest is genuinely beautiful! This scene also shows Lenzi's ability to build suspense, very slowly but meaningfully. After all, there aren't so many murders in the whole film, only the suspense circulating around the murderer's identity.　　One suspect is a devil worshipper which brings new aspects to the mystery. Since the final scene takes place in a church, one can wonder if Lenzi wanted to comment on something, maybe the hypocritical morale of church and superstition. The main character (Carrol Baker) is mute which demands a lot from her face and eyes. The actress works very well, giving us a believable performance circulating around the emotions of fear and mental pain. The other actors are good, too. The finally, however, may not give too positive a sight about female sex since they all are expressed rather negatively in the film, one way or another. Still this is easily among the most noteworthy in the genre, not as bloody as the Argento films, for example, but equally suspenseful and visually also interesting.

简介：　　Reminiscences of a Journey to Lithuania de Jonas Mekas　　États-Unis, 1972, 16mm, 82’, coul., vostf　　musique : Konstantinas Ciurlionis　　« Cette œuvre est composée de trois parties. La première est faite de films que j’ai tournés avec ma première Bolex à notre arrivée en Amérique, surtout pendant les années 1950 à 1953. Ce sont les images de ma vie, de celle d’Adolfas, de ce à quoi nous ressemblions à l’époque ; des plans d’immigrants à Brooklyn, pique-niquant, dansant, chantant ; les rues de Williamsburg. La seconde partie a été tournée en août 1971, en Lituanie. Presque tout a été filmé à Seminiskiai, mon village natal. On y voit la vieille maison, ma mère (née en 1887), tous mes frères célébrant notre retour, les endroits que nous connaissions, la vie aux champs et autres détails insignifiants. Ce n’est pas une image de la Lituanie actuelle, ce sont les souvenirs d’une "Personne déplacée" retrouvant sa maison pour la première fois après vingt-cinq ans. La troisième partie débute par une parenthèse sur Elmshorn, un faubourg de Hambourg, où nous avons passé un an dans un camp de travaux forcés pendant la guerre. Après avoir fermé la parenthèse, nous nous retrouvons à Vienne avec quelques-uns de mes meilleurs amis, Peter Kubelka, Hermann Nitsch, Annette Michelson, Ken Jacobs. Le film s’achève sur l’incendie du marché aux fruits de Vienne, en août 1971. Le son : je parle, pendant une grande partie du film, de moi-même en tant que "Personne déplacée", mes rapports avec la Maison, la Mémoire, la Culture, les Racines, l’Enfance. Il y aussi quelques chansons lituaniennes chantées par tous les frères Mekas. »　　Jonas Mekas　　« Mekas n’a donc pas choisi l’exil. Les circonstances l’y ont contraint. Il y a deux sortes de voyageurs, rappelle-t-il à propos de Reminiscences of a Journey to Lithuania, ceux qui partent de leur plein gré à la rencontre du monde pour chercher fortune ou simplement aller voir ailleurs si l’herbe est "plus verte" et qui, à la manière du Wilhelm Meister de Goethe font de leur voyage un roman d’apprentissage, et puis il y a les autres, les déracinés, ceux qui sont arrachés de force à leur pays comme de la mauvaise herbe et qui semblent condamnés au ressassement de la nostalgie, au travail infini du deuil. »　　Patrice Rollet, « Les exils de Jonas Mekas », Les Cahiers du cinéma n° 463, janvier 1993
